About Us
Who We Are: Almas Unidas-Hearts United is a non-profit group dedicated to the care and development of marginalized men and women in El Salvador and Ecuador. We are dedicated to improving the lives of those we support by ending homelessness, introducing education and the arts, and developing life skills that will help individuals successfully enter the work force. We are particularly interested in giving our recipients the tools to achieve a better economic and social status.
What We Do: Our day to day efforts include providing medical care and supplies to our home for the elderly. For the girls at the orphanage we help supplying clothing, educational supplies--such as pencils, paper, computers, English learning tools, etc-- recreational equipment, practical devices such as sewing machines, kitchen utensils, and appliances. At the school in Ecuador we have concentrated on providing school supplies such as pencils, paper, books, teacher supplies. We are also attempting to set up a computer lab and hire new teachers to acommodate the 600 students.

Recent Achievements (El Salvador):
- Purchased shoes for all of the girls.
- Purchased 4 computers and installed Rosetta Stone-English.
- Purchased sewing materials.
- Purchased personal hygiene and medical supplies.
- Finished construction of sinks.
- Installed new clotheslines that are in better locations, particularly for the rainy season.
- Re-painted the basketball courts and installed two new goal posts.
- Installed new volleyball nets.
- Currently working on installing new ventillation systems for the wood stoves in the nursing home.
